Data Deletion

Last updated: August 24, 2026

How to have your Hanakoi account and personal data deleted, what deletion covers, and how long it takes.

1. What This Page Covers

This page explains how to have your Hanakoi account and the personal data associated with it deleted, what deletion removes, and what we are required to keep. It applies however you signed in — email and password, Google, or Facebook.

Deletion is permanent. Your chat history, the memories your characters formed about you, and any characters you created cannot be recovered afterwards, and unused credits are forfeited. If you only want to stop receiving messages or take a break, contact us before requesting deletion and we will help you find a less drastic option.

2. How to Request Deletion

Send an email to privacy@hanakoi.ai with the subject line "Delete my account".

To let us verify the request, please send it from the email address associated with your Hanakoi account and include:

  • the email address you use to sign in to Hanakoi;
  • the sign-in method you use (email and password, Google, or Facebook);
  • your display name on Hanakoi, if you know it.

We may ask you to confirm the request from the same address before we act on it. We do this to make sure nobody else can delete your account — it is a safeguard for you, not an obstacle.

3. What Gets Deleted

Once we act on a verified request, we delete:

  • your account and authentication record;
  • your profile information, including display name and profile photo;
  • your chat content and the character memories derived from it;
  • the characters and personas you created, together with their configuration;
  • your credit balance and entitlements (unused credits are forfeited and are not refundable on deletion).

4. What We Keep, and Why

A small amount of data survives deletion because the law requires it or because it no longer identifies you:

  • Compliance and safety records — where we are legally required to retain them, including minor-protection and content-safety audit records. These are kept for the period the law requires and are not used for any other purpose.
  • Transaction and tax records — where retention is required by financial or tax law.
  • Aggregated or anonymised analytics — data that can no longer be linked back to you as an individual.
  • Backups — deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before those backups expire on their normal rotation.

This mirrors the retention rules described in our Privacy Policy; nothing on this page grants us any retention right beyond what that policy already states.

5. How Long It Takes

We confirm receipt of your request and complete the deletion within 30 days, and sooner where applicable law requires a shorter period. If a request is unusually complex and we need more time, we will tell you before that deadline and explain why.

6. If You Signed In with Facebook

Deleting your Hanakoi account removes the data we hold. It does not, on its own, remove Hanakoi from your Facebook account. To also revoke our access on the Facebook side:

  • open Facebook and go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites;
  • find Hanakoi in the list of apps you are logged in with;
  • select it and choose Remove.

Removing the app on Facebook stops any further data being shared with us, but it does not by itself delete the data we already hold — send the request described in Section 2 for that. The same applies to Google: revoking access in your Google account settings is separate from deletion by us.

7. Questions

Hanakoi is operated by NGMOB PTE LTD, a company incorporated in Singapore, which is the data controller for the data described here. If anything on this page is unclear, or you want to know exactly what data we hold about you before deciding, write to privacy@hanakoi.ai and we will answer.
